A LITTLE BIO OF OUR TEACHERS ANDREW AND VY
Andrew
Andrew was first introduced to Argentine Tango over sixteen years ago when he was selected to join a dance performance cabaret group called Los Tangueros.
After training and performing with the group for two years he decided to move away from choreographed performance to focus on improvised lead and follow dancing which is at the heart of Argentine Tango.
Andrew was fortunate in being taught early on in his tango journey by Alexandra Wood and Stefano Fava of Tango in Action who gave him a solid foundation in the principles and technique of this wonderful dance.
His drive to learn the art of Argentine Tango has led him to Buenos Aires to study at the DNI Tango school.
Andrew also took the opportunity to visit numerous miolongas ( social dances) to gain many hours of dance floor experience with Argentinians.
For many years Andrew has assisted with running of the English International Tango Festival through which he gained the opportunity to be taught by
world renowned Tango maestros including Oscar Casas, Miguel Zotto and Daiana Guspero, Homer and Christina Ladas and many others.
Andrew has a strong belief that everyone can dance Argentine Tango and that it is beneficial pass time and skill that can be life enhancing for all those that are fortunate enough to learn it.
It is this philosophy and passion for Argentine Tango which Andrew is keen to share with others when dancing or teaching Argentine Tango.
Vy
Vy has been dancing Argentine Tango for over 18 years and teaching for over seven years. She fell in love with the dance from the minute she walked into her first lesson in 2006. She has had the good fortune to learn and continue to learn from some great teachers such as Alexandra Wood, David and Kim Benetez, Homer and Cristina Ladas and Oscar Casas.
Studying with these teachers has led Vy to build a sound technical and musical foundation enabling her to explore and expand her tango knowledge.
Vy has always felt that with tango, learning never stops as there is always something more and different, be it style, music or intricacies of a movement to explore.
Her love for tango led her to Buenos Aires and Uraguay to experience the local milongas and tango schools. It has also taken her to tango festival in the UK and abroad.
Vy has had the privilege to assist Homer Ladas at workshops and learn the nuances of teaching this beautiful dance.
